Vision Statement

We want to build on the strengths of our community; to sustain and improve the social fabric by good quality affordable housing, first-rate services in health, social and community care, encouraging community participation in development and creating a safe and secure environment throughout Dawlish and the surrounding area.

Our young people are valued as the future of Dawlish; it is essential to invest in their potential and improve job opportunities. Introducing new business on land allocated for employment, matched by improved training and skills, will raise the percentage of those who can find work in Dawlish, bringing increased prosperity.

Tourism will be encouraged by widening the range of accommodation, providing excellent facilities and service and ensuring good value for money. Careful growth will be encouraged while ensuring that the unique qualities of its parks and open spaces, and the surrounding areas of Dawlish Water, Cockwood and the Warren Nature Reserve are protected and enhanced. We wish Dawlish to flourish as an all-year-round centre for culture, sport, leisure and relaxation.

We want to maintain and increase the range of shops, and promote local products, to make Dawlish a more exciting centre of retail trade.

The Town aims to enhance the enjoyment and safety for shoppers, and ensure adequate parking facilities. Easy access from outlying areas must be available. Care must be taken with any new development to maintain the character of the central parts of town, and excellence in architecture and landscape design must be pursued.
