Dawlish Community Action Plan

"Dawlish - The People's Vision" marks the completion of the task set out in the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative (MCTI) process, but it is also the target programme for Dawlish Community Trust.

There are a wide range of projects identified. Some are easy and just need a small 'push', while others will require months of patient negotiation.

Not all of the projects fall within the scope of the Trust to lead and develop.

Many are the responsibility of statutory bodies like the three Councils, Devon, Teignbridge or Dawlish, and the projects will require funding by them in part or in whole. Our aim will be to invite collaboration in making improvements, and to pool financial or human resources to achieve the ends.

Certain projects are already being developed by others, but could benefit from the moral or persuasive support of the Trust. We may also be able to draw down funding which is not directly available to others. In these cases we 'endorse' the projects but do not pretend to be the lead agency.

The projects which belong to the Trust alone will require our effort to initiate and to obtain funding to carry through. There will be further public and council consultation as schemes develop, to ensure that duplication or confrontation does not occur.

The Action Plan was reviewed and updated in 2008 and was adopted as the Regeneration Plan for Dawlish by Dawlish Town Council on 9 April 2008.
